Quick Admit Degree Programs

Program Information

Designed to teach value-added skills to Petroleum Professionals, this non-thesis, 36 credit program encompasses all aspects of the Geosciences. Offered in a totally online carrousel model, students may complete the degree in as little as 18 months. Courses begin five times a year, and students may be admitted to the program three times per year; Fall, Spring or Summer. Tracks of study include Petroleum Data Management and Geographic Information Science and Technology.

Ocean data informs solutions to challenges that are becoming more complex and ocean science has become increasingly analytical and computational. The ODS track develops skills in analytical and interdisciplinary thinking, computer programming, data mining, statistical and spatial modeling, predictive analysis and ocean science data methodology.

Program Information

The Master of Geoscience - Oceanography is a face-to-face non-thesis degree designed for students to gain a broad background in Oceanography and the Geosciences at the graduate level. The degree allows students to take courses across the four Geosciences departments to build an interdisciplinary foundation.

Admission Requirements

Completing any BS degree with a 3.00 GPA and C or better in: MATH 151 & 152; at least one PHYS or CHEM class. Students who do not meet the admission requirements, but have a strong academic record towards a BS degree, are encouraged to apply.

Program Information

The Master of Science (MS) in Geography (thesis or non-thesis) provides the students the necessary intellectual and technical foundation to solve geographical problems across multiple spatial scales. Graduates will be trained in obtaining geographic data, using geospatial methods and technologies to analyze the data, synthesizing information from multiple sources in geographic domain, communicating information effectively, applying critical thinking, and demonstrating proficiency in using appropriate geographic geospatial methods and technologies.

Program Information

This non-thesis master’s degree provides students with a basic understanding of the major concepts in oceanography that can be applied in their Ocean Sciences careers and the skills and tools to evaluate and analyze data, particularly large datasets of the type generated by ocean observing systems.

Any BS degree with a 3.25 GPA and C or better in: MATH 151 & 152; PHYS 218 & 208; CHEM 101, 111, 102, 112; STAT 211. Students who do not meet the admission requirements, but have a strong academic record towards a BS degree, are encouraged to apply.

The Master’s Program (thesis or non-thesis) is designed to provide students with the necessary intellectual, managerial and technical foundation for careers in the critically important water service industry. Over 90 percent of our graduates are employed in some sector of the industry with annual starting salaries over $60,000.

Geospatial Intelligence (GeoINT) is a rapidly emerging field that leverages human intelligence and geospatial technologies in the support of national security and other intelligence activities. This 15-credit hour certificate, offered jointly by the College of Geosciences and the Bush School of Public Policy, develops the technical skill set, knowledge of the intelligence processes and the critical thinking ability required of GeoINT practitioners.
