A Distinguished Past

In the early 1960s, stakeholders in the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas participated in an extended period of massive self-study and planning led by then President Earl Rudder. Four study groups were charged with preparing guidelines for how Texas A&M would achieve its destiny as a university of state, national, and international prominence in time for its 100th anniversary in 1976 Out of that planning process came a major reorganization that included the creation of the College of Geosciences over 50 years ago, in 1965.
