New Atmospheric Sciences Website Launched PDF Print E-mail

The College of Geosciences has launched a new website for the Department of Atmospheric Sciences that offers users a number of new features and streamlines access to information. The site is located at http://atmo.tamu.edu/ .

The Atmospheric Sciences website is the third department website redesigned by the College’s web development team this year. The home page includes photos and links to research being conducted by department faculty, and a featured link to a podcast about the Texas Aggie Storm Chasers student group. It also offers one-click access to faculty profiles and departmental news, as well as information tailored to the needs and interests of prospective, current, and former students.

A newly developed “Courses” link provides current information on undergraduate and graduate courses posted by the instructor with the syllabus and other relevant information needed for each class. Another new feature is a link to the weekly “Weather Whys” column written by Keith Randall in University Communications which taps the experts in Atmospheric Sciences to answer common, and some uncommon, questions about the weather.

A “Notable Achievements” menu item highlights the accomplishments of faculty, listing awards and grants received, as well as books and articles published. Other features include extensive research pages organized by area of concentration and updated facilities pages.

A comprehensive personnel directory with profile pages for all faculty, research scientists, and graduate students has also been incorporated. A database created by the web team allows faculty and graduate students to control the content of their personal profile pages. They can update and revise them as needed, ensuring that the information is always up-to-date.

The College is working within the University’s web style guidelines to create a cohesive site that encompasses all its departments and programs and compliments the design of the Texas A&M University website. Visit the new Department of Atmospheric Sciences website at http://atmo.tamu.edu/ .
