Geology and Geophysics Assistant Professor Bridget Wade co-authored a paper published in the April issue of Nature Geoscience. The article documents the role of ice-sheet and temperature fluctuations in understanding the past global climate system and its response to changes during significantly warmer climates.

Titled “Stepwise transition from the Eocene greenhouse to the Oligocene icehouse,” the article discussed “the largest global cooling event of the Cenozoic Era, between 33.8 and 33.5 million years ago, when warm, high-CO2 conditions gave way to the variable ‘icehouse’ climates that prevail today.” Wade’s co-authors are Miriam Katz of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Rutgers University; Kenneth Miller, James Wright, James Browning and Yair Rosenthal of Rutgers University; and Benjamin Cramer of the University of Oregon. The research was supported by a National Science Foundation grant. Wade joined the faculty in September. She completed her Ph.D. in geology and geophysics at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and she was a postdoctoral fellow and research scientist at Rutgers University.
