Personnel changes at TAMU and in the College - update

• Vatche Tchakerian to step down as Academic Dean this summer; an internal search for a replacement will be follow.

• Irma Weatherford, College Recruiter, resigned 12/31/07; and advertisement has been posted and a search for her replacement is under way.

Information Letter #12

• The EC was reminded that Information Letter #12 was distributed before the holiday break.

College T&P guidelines – next step

• The revised final draft was circulated to all DHs and they were asked to consult with the faculty and provide comments in writing by 1 February 2008.

Awards nominations/streamline process/fatigue (Tchakerian)

• AFS University Distinguished Achievement Awards are due to Vatche Tchakerian by January 31 2008.

GFAC and grievance committee

• GFAC and the College Grievance committee need to be in place.

SACS, QEP, assessment metrics, and EEC report (Tchakerian)

• TAMU SACS accreditation coming up in 2012.

• College input on EEC report is due to Provost on Friday, Jan. 11.

• DH’s are to submit comments to Dean by Wednesday, Jan. 9.

Salary savings (open positions/on research contracts).

• G&G requested an IODP scientist to teach a class.

Summer funding 2008 – update (Tchakerian)

• Vatche has funding data for 2008 Summer Teaching and will provide this information to DH’s.

Endowed chairs and professorship - selection process

• Ten chairs and professorships are open.

Endowed chairs and professorships - policy update

• Vote was taken and Ex Com voted to approve a new paragraph to the College guidelines.
