Wade Wins NSF CAREER Award07/14/09 - Dr. Bridget Wade, assistant professor of Geology & Geophysics in the College of Geosciences, has won a National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER award, one of the Foundation’s most prestigious awards. It recognizes junior faculty who exemplify the role of teacher-scholars through outstanding research, excellent teaching, and the integration of education and research. NSF’s Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is intended to give awardees a firm foundation for a lifetime of leadership in integrating education and research. Wade joined the faculty in the Department of Geology & Geophysics in 2007. As a paleontologist, she plans to use her CAREER award to study the implications for taxonomy, paleobiology, and tropical marine temperatures in Oligocene planktonic foraminifera. Before joining Texas A&M, Wade was a postdoctoral fellow and research scientist at the Institute of Marine and Coastal Science at Rutgers University. She also completed postdoctoral research fellowships in the United Kingdom at Cardiff University and the University of Edinburgh. Wade earned a BS in environmental science at the University of Leeds, U.K., an M.S. in micropalaeontology at University College London, and a Ph.D. in Geology & Geophysics at the University of Edinburgh. Wade is an editorial advisory board member of the Open Paleontology Journal. She sailed as a shipboard micropaleontologist on the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program’s (IODP) Expedition 321 from May to July, 2009, and is currently advising four Geology & Geophysics students on ocean drilling-related projects. |
