Agenda

The objectives of the proposed four-day planning meeting are to:

  • Form focused research groups based on expertise and research interests
  • Identify – within each focus group – viable study topics with testable hypotheses
  • Develop detailed outlines for research proposals addressing the study topics
  • Agree on action plans for the completion of each proposal, including writing assignments and deadlines.

The format for this planning meeting provides time for group-wide discussions on sustaining activities for the ocean and climate science collaboration established here, and on the crosscutting themes that link the study of large river system impacts on coastal and continental shelf processes and ecosystems, coastal and ocean interactions and circulation, and sensitivity of regional and global climate to changes in each of those systems. Similarly, time will be devoted to group-wide, integrative discussions on the linkages between the three primary research themes and future research priorities. The majority of the planning meeting time, however, will be given to focused planning and logistics discussions within each of the three research focus groups. Discussions in the research focus groups will be led by the task force teams identified above.
