Immersive Field Work Experiences
The very nature of geosciences makes us world travelers. Our professors and students can be on a research ship off Antarctica, atop a mountain in the Italian Alps or in a remote village in Norther India. The world is our classroom, our lab, our passion.
Incredible Opportunities to Study Here and Abroad
The College continues to expand international opportunities and high impact learning experiences for all students. Programs already established or are well in the planning processes include Brazil, the Caribbean, Qatar, Mexico and other Central and South American countries. Students have recently studied or conducted research in Costa Rica, China, Italy, New Zealand, Germany, Norway and England. Texas A&M study abroad encompasses a variety of international experiences study, research, internships, volunteer, and service learning programs. Study abroad opportunities are available for all students freshman through Ph.D. candidates.
Relevant Field Trips Students regularly participate in field trips throughout Texas, the Southwest and the Rocky Mountain states, from a long weekend to a six-week field camp.
Unique Undergraduate Research Opportunities
Research experience is a defining value of the College of Geosciences even for undergraduates. Students work on specific projects with a professor, learning how to do research, how to evaluate the results and how to communicate the outcome to other scientists and the public. The programs may be conducted in College Station but are just as likely to be anywhere in the world. Inquire within.
Emphasis on Effective Communication as a Success Strategy
As an Aggie Geoscientist, we believe that your ability to communicate clearly, especially in scientific and technical fields, is critical to your future success. Our program provides writing assistance, supplemental learning instructors and an integrated communications curriculum so you can learn to speak, write and present your work with clarity, conviction and vision.
Texas A&M University offers career services to help with internship placement. Internships are a great way for students to get work experience and to decide on a career path. The more experience you have at graduation the better your chances of job placement:
